How State of Blocks started. The wins, the losses and the lessons that built the community.
Marcus is a trader and researcher focused on crypto markets, operating at the intersection of macroeconomics, technical structure, and market sentiment. His work is grounded in proprietary, rules-based frameworks for regime identification, with an emphasis on detecting market inefficiencies and positioning ahead of major transitions.
He started State of Blocks in 2019 and now runs it full time. Before that he was a quantitative researcher on the markets team at Delphi Digital.
The journey so far
- 2017
The beginning
Stumbled upon the exciting world of cryptocurrency during a bullish market run. Invested a modest four-figure sum and traded up to a substantial six-figure stack by the peak of 2018.
- 2018
Once bitten, twice shy
Like many others, became blinded by the hype and failed to secure profits. Watched gains disappear as the market corrected, riding investments back down to nearly zero.
- 2019
“that1618guy”
A defining experience that taught an important lesson: be smarter, better, and more disciplined. Dedicated almost every waking minute to technical setups, Fibonacci analysis, Elliott wave theory, and rebuilding from the ground up.
